Magnus Liistamo is an artist who creates social contexts for the development of a dialogue around representation within the contemporary art field. Magnus investigates the relation between the artist, the institution and the interconnecting areas from within by setting up informal institutions. Liistamo was a co-founder of the collaborative gallery ak28 in Stockholm and initiated FrontierGoodies in 2008 to support the online representation for artist, curators and critics by providing a website builder. This was followed up 2010 with the Artworke.rs website. The fundamental idea with Artworke.rs is to investigate whether this niche for contemporary art, potentially can change the structures within the art world’s peer mediation ideals and selection mechanisms. Artworke.rs is not funded by any Government agency. Instead it is supported by the members of the site. It is important to make this distinction between a totally independent organisation as opposed to organisations that have at their very core a financial stake from local, regional or central Government. This independence means that Artworke.rs is totally free from such political influence.
